TPL’s Appel Salon lineup includes Salman Rushdie, David Lagercrantz, Jonathan Franzen, and others

The Toronto Public Library has announced its upcoming lineup of authors appearing this fall at the Appel Salon, located in the Toronto Reference Library:

  • Aug. 24 – Kathy Reichs in conversation with Deb Dundas
  • Sept. 8 – Lawrence Hill in conversation with Marci Ien
  • Sept. 16* – Bob Rae, Desmond Cole, Alison Loat with Samara in a pre-election debate on Canadian leadership
  • Sept. 17* – David Lagercrantz, on continuing Stieg Larsson’s legacy
  • Sept. 22 – Kate Beaton in conversation with Emily Keeler
  • Sept. 24 – Salman Rushdie (host to be confirmed)
  • Sept. 28 – Wab Kinew on his memoir The Reason You Walk
  • Oct. 5 – Will Ferguson on his new travel book, Road Trip Rwanda
  • Oct. 7 – Kevin Newman and Alex Newman in conversation with Tina Srebotnjak
  • Oct. 15 – 2015 Toronto Book Awards hosted by Gill Deacon
  • Oct. 16 – Geraldine Brooks in conversation with with Sarah Fulford
  • Oct. 19 – Patrick de Witt in conversation with Jared Bland
  • Oct. 20 – Shilpi Somaya Gowda on her novel The Golden Sun
  • Oct. 26 – Hazlitt presents: From Within, with Gynne Dyer, Farzana Hazzan, and Angie Seth

  • Nov. 4 – Ian Brown in conversation with Shelagh Rogers
  • Nov. 9 – The Songs of the War Mothers (authors to be arranged) in conversation with R.H. Thomson
  • Nov. 11 – Margaret Atwood in conversation with George Stroumboulopoulous
  • Nov. 16 – Janet Evanovich in conversation with Richard Ouzounian
  • Nov. 17 – Carrie Brownstein in conversation with Jo Schneller
  • Nov. 18 – Ian Rankin in conversation with Linwood Barclay
  • Nov. 25 – University of Waterloo neuroscience professor and author Chris Eliasmith on new innovations in health and technology
  • Dec. 2 – Dalton McGuinty in conversation with Amanda Lang
  • Dec. 7 – John Irving in conversation with Tina Srebotnjak
  • Dec. 7 – Michael Connelly in conversation with Deb Dundas

Update July 9: An earlier version of this story listed the David Lagercrantz event as taking place on Sept. 16 and the Bob Rae, Desmond Cole, and Alison Loat event on Sept. 17. TPL has since switched these dates to the ones above.
