Giant Pandas (the Untamed World Series)

by Karen Dudley

Grizzly Bears (the Untamed World Series)

by Janice Parker

These two excellent new non-fiction books deserve a place in any school or public library. They are packed with useful information, text that’s both readable and entertaining, and colourful photographs to grab the attention of browsers. The books go beyond natural history to include a discussion of each animal’s place in folklore. Animal stories and legends are described, and a bibliography relating to folklore is given. Each book features a clean and inviting design, which provides lots of visual stimulation without being overly busy or cluttered. Both titles are carefully organized, with useful charts and maps, as well as an index and glossary, a suggested reading list, and addresses for relevant organizations. Giant Pandas takes this one step further, listing URLs for World Wide Web pages. Teachers and librarians will be pleased with the depth of information in these titles and the added touches that make them especially useful for both research and as a teaching tool. Whether you are a student looking for a good research book, a teacher looking for resource material, or simply an animal lover, these books have everything you need and more.
