Chad Pelley wins Telegraph-Journal’s inaugural Salon Fiction Prize

St. John’s writer Chad Pelley has won the inaugural Salon Fiction Prize for his short story “A Second Look at Nothing.”

Sponsored by the Telegraph-Journal, New Brunswick’s provincial newspaper, the prize awards $1,000 for a previously unpublished work of Canadian short fiction. The winning story was published in Salon, the newspaper’s arts and culture section.

Pelley’s story was selected from more than 100 entries submitted from across Canada by a jury composed of Scotiabanker Giller Prize finalist Alexander MacLeod, Pat Lowther Award“winning poet Sue Goyette, and Université de Moncton professor Thomas Hodd.

Known for his CanLit blog Salty Ink, Pelley’s second novel, Every Little Thing (Breakwater Books), is out in March.
