Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize shortlist announced

Lynn Coady’s Scotiabank Giller Prize winning story collection, Hellgoing (House of Anansi Press), is among the finalists for the 2014 Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize.

Coady’s collection made the list alongside poet and novelist Tim Bowling’s Selected Poems (Nightwood Editions) and Disinherited Generations: Our Struggle to Reclaim Treaty Rights for First Nations Women and Their Descendants (University of Alberta Press), an oral autobiography by two Cree women, Nellie Carlson and Kathleen Steinhauer, with Linda Goyette.

The award, established in 1995, celebrates fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or drama written for adults or children that deals with aspects of the city of Edmonton. The winner, announced at the annual Mayor’s Celebration for the Arts on April 28, will receive $10,000.
