Playwright Hannah Moscovitch wins 2014 Trillium Book Award

Trillium logoThe winners of the Ontario Trillium Book Awards were announced at a dinner hosted by the Ontario Media Development Corporation last night in Toronto. The announcement followed readings by the shortlisted authors on June 16.

The awards, which aim to increase awareness of and celebrate work by Ontario authors, are open to books written in English or French, in fiction, non-fiction, drama, children’s books, and poetry. Winners each receive $20,000, with an additional $2,000 going to their respective publishers in support of the promotion of their work.

This year’s winners are:

Trillium Book Award (English)

  • Hannah Moscovitch, This Is War (Playwrights Canada Press/Banff Centre Press*)

Trillium Book Award for Poetry (English)

  • Souvankham Thammavongsa, Light (Pedlar Press)

Prix Trillium

  • Marguerite Andersen, La mauvaise mère (Éditions Prise de parole)

Trillium Book Award for Poetry (French)

  • Daniel Groleau Landry, Rêver au réel (Les Éditions L’Interligne)
