Hannah Moscovitch wins $150,000 Donald Windham–Sandy M. Campbell Literature Prize

Hannah MoscovitchToronto-based playwright Hannah Moscovitch has been named one of nine winners of this year’s Donald Windham–Sandy M. Campbell Literature Prizes, a series of $150,000 (U.S.) awards Yale University presents to international writers of fiction, non-fiction, and drama in English.

Moscovitch is the second Canadian to receive the prize; dual Canadian-U.S. citizen John Vaillant won for non-fiction in 2014.

The selection committee praised the Tarragon Theatre playwright-in-residence for work that “fuses the intimate and the epic in fiercely intelligent plays about violence, responsibility, and redemption.”

Moscovitch will be honoured with her fellow 2016 winners at a literary festival at Yale in September.
