Vancouver’s Arsenal Pulp Press has acquired the follow-up to Julie Maroh’s graphic novel, Blue Is the Warmest Color.

The English-language translation of Skandalon, about a self-destructive rock star, will be published in fall 2014.

At the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair, Arsenal Pulp publisher Brian Lam acquired world English-language rights to Blue Is the Warmest Color from Belgian comics publisher Glénat. Lam told Q&Q that when he bought the rights, he was unaware of the upcoming movie adaptation, which went on to receive the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or honour, and was yesterday nominated for a Golden Globe for best foreign film.

The film’s success (and controversies) has propelled Maroh’s book onto The New York Times‘ bestsellers list for graphic novels. Lam estimates 30,000 copies have been printed to date, with a fourth print run on its way.
