Brie Larson wins Golden Globe for Room performance

roomActress Brie Larson won a Golden Globe Award on Jan. 10 for her role in the film adaptation of Irish-Canadian author Emma Donoghue‘s 2010 novel, Room.

The actress thanked Donoghue, who also wrote the film’s screenplay, in her acceptance speech.

Other book-to-film adaptations that shone at this year’s awards were The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and based on the Michael Punke novel of the same name, and The Martian, starring Matt Damon and based on the novel by Andy Weir. The latter was adapted by Newmarket, Ontario-based audiobook publisher Podium Publishing before it became a film project.
