Emma Donoghue‘s Room received more acclaim on Feb. 28 when Brie Larson, star of the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and Commonwealth Writers’ Prize-winning novel’s film adaptation – for which Donoghue wrote the screenplay – won the 2016 Academy Award for best actress.

Larson also won a Golden Globe Award earlier this year for her performance.

Donoghue was nominated for best adapted screenplay at this year’s Oscars, but lost to Adam McKay and Charles Randolph for their adaption of Michael Lewis’s The Big Short.
