Canadian astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield has conquered space, social media, and the publishing industry. Next up: the small screen.
A report on Deadline.com reveals that ABC has landed rights to Hadfield’s best-selling memoir, An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth. The series, which will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and 3 Arts Entertainment (producers of Parks and Recreation and The Mindy Project) will be a multi-camera family comedy about an astronaut trying to adjust to life at home after returning from a mission in space.
Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker (the duo behind Surviving Jack) have signed on to pen the show, with Hadfield acting as consulting producer.
The deal was negotiated (in what Deadline calls a “very competitive situation”) by film agent Sean Daily at Hotchkiss and Associates in partnership with Hadfield’s literary agent, Rick Broadhead of Rick Broadhead & Associates.
