First Book Canada, Kobo, and Penguin Random House Canada have announced they are collaborating with The Book of Awesome author Neil Pasricha on a targeted literacy initiative.
The Awesome Project will see Pasricha visiting five high-needs Greater Toronto Area public schools between Oct. 26 and 30 to read from his first children’s title, Awesome is Everywhere, published by PRH’s Puffin imprint in September.
Each school will receive 1,500 books and a $1,000 grant for the purpose of expanding their libraries and purchasing Kobo e-readers through the First Book Marketplace.
First Book Canada will also benefit. The non-profit organization that distributes new books to children across Canada (more than one million in 2015 alone), will receive $5 from Kobo for every new customer purchasing their first ebook through the associated Kobo online store portal before Nov. 30.
