Spring preview 2015: more books for young people

spring-34French author-illustrator Sibylle Delacroix presents an adorable little girl in a grumpy mood in Prickly Jenny, published by Owlkids Books. Vermont College of Fine Arts writing instructor Uma Krishnaswami’s Bright Sky, Starry City tells of a girl, her dad, and their telescope. Aimée Sicuro illustrates the Groundwood title. Drawn & Quarterly will publish the latest tale of a girl and her amphibian buddy by Anouk Ricard, Anna and Froga: Fore!, translated by Helge Dascher. The Keepers: The Box and the Dragonfly is the first instalment in a new middle-grade fantasy series by Ted Sanders, publishing with HarperCollins. The masterminds behind popular series The 39 Clues present Tombquest #1: Book of the Dead. Michael Northrop pens this first instalment in a new series being billed by publisher Scholastic as an “epic Egyptian adventure.” From St. Martin’s Press comes Frostfire, a series opener featuring warring troll tribes by ebook success story turned NYT bestselling-author Amanda Hocking. Libba Bray’s legions of fans will no doubt be tripping over themselves to get their hands on Lair of Dreams: A Diviners Novel, from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, while Elizabeth Wein’s admirers can expect a new war experience with the author in Black Dove, White Raven, her first in a series set in Ethiopia publishing with Doubleday Canada. Sisters Grimm series author Michael Buckley presents publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s top title, a trilogy opener called Undertow, in which sea warriors storm the beach of Coney Island.
