Deconstructing the lobster

A postmodern novelist known for his linguistic contortions, a glossy foodie magazine, and the Maine Lobster festival. Sounds like the perfect recipe for a 6,000-word article.

The article in question is by noted fiction writer David Foster Wallace, and it’s been causing a fair bit of chattering. Much of the piece, says The Boston Globe‘s Alex Beam, is largely a “meditation on the bioethics of lobster boiling.” Beam gets the inside story on the editorial tug-of-war behind the article.
