Farewell Korda

Legendary American editor Michael Korda announced yesterday that he’ll be stepping down from his longtime position as editor-in-chief of Simon & Schuster. Korda has been with the company for 47 years (the past 37 of them in the editor-in-chief spot) and has worked with such authors as Jaqueline Susann and Larry McMurtry, as well as former presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. Korda’s also an author himself, having written the hugely entertaining publishing memoir Another Life and several other titles.

Today, Korda tells The New York Times that the decision to leave is both “bittersweet” and entirely his own. No word (at least in the Times piece) on any S&S plans to replace him.
