Inhabit Education is an Inuit-owned educational company that produces materials for students and teachers in Nunavut. We primarily publish in Inuktitut and English, as well as in French and Inuinnaqtun. Our mandate is to create educational materials that are culturally appropriate and grounded in pedagogical research and experience. The ideal candidate is located in Iqaluit or Toronto, with the ability to travel occasionally if needed. We are looking for an Editorial Project Manager to join the team! This position will require the successful candidate to be in office from Monday-Friday.
Working alongside the Managing Editor, the Editorial Project Manager will take on the following duties:
- Coordinating between in-house editorial and design staff and external clients on key book series and teacher resources
- Developing and editing projects based on approved curriculum and with the assistance of experts in education and specialized subject areas, including public health, social services, environmental science, and Northern affairs and culture
- Overseeing projects throughout development and production, including assigning writers, editors, translators, educational and Northern consultants
- Managing production between writers, editors, reviewers, designers, and distributors
- Writing, revising, and editing books and support documents according to levelling guidelines and plain-language principles
- Copy editing and proofreading student and teacher resources as needed
- Creating and managing timelines to ensure contract deadlines and terms are satisfied
- Completing some administrative duties as required
Required skills and experience:
- At least two years of experience working in an editorial role, ideally in a publishing environment
- Ability to coordinate between multiple teams to keep projects on schedule
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster and maintain good relationships with clients
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
- Interest in social justice and equity
- Experience working with Northern, remote, and/or marginalized communities is an asset
- Completion of a publishing certificate program is an asset
We are also looking for an Editor.

- Editing projects based on approved curriculum and with the assistance of experts in education and specialized subject areas, including public health, social services, environmental science, and Northern affairs and culture.
- Editing key book series and teacher resources.
- Writing, revising, and editing books and support documents according to levelling guidelines and plain-language principles.
- Copy editing and proofreading student and teacher resources as needed.
- Great time management to ensure contract deadlines and terms are satisfied.
