This position will be responsible for maximizing the sales of Scholastic educational resources (print and digital) to select school districts in Toronto and Eastern Ontario. The successful candidate will require a thorough understanding of all Scholastic educational resources – components, features and instructional pedagogy in order to represent/sell these resources to groups of teachers, principals, consultants, associations, and superintendents across the territory.


  • Meet established sales target for territory and coordinate the sales of all Scholastic educational resources and services in this territory.
  • Utilize and aggregate resource sales data and contact information, track sales activity/history, maintain personal database of customer information, develop quarterly territory sales plans.
  • Direct all territory sales efforts through virtual and physical sales calls, email, direct mail, RFP proposals, and district adoptions.
  • Represent Scholastic in the education market. Create and maintain strong relationships with key customers i.e. dept. of education, curriculum consultants, principals, teachers, and discipline specific associations.
  • Be aware of all major educational initiatives at the provincial level and within each district within the territory.
  • Develop a strong understanding of all Scholastic educational resources – components, author team, features, pedagogy, access, technical requirements, and use.
  • Attend major educational conferences and displays in the territory, and as required outside the territory.
  • Provide competitive analysis and market information as requested as part of regular reporting.
  • Collaborate with Events Manager on conference planning.
  • Work with Publishing/Editorial and Marketing to provide product/market feedback.
  • Submit a written report at the end of every month and as requested which includes pending business, conference feedback, feedback on new resources, competitive and market intelligence, upcoming opportunities, issues and concerns, funding initiatives, pilot feedback, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • University degree or equivalent and 5 years previous sales experience, preferably in educational resources, software, hardware, services, teaching.
  • Willingness to travel within the territory and on occasion to Scholastic offices.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication/physical and virtual presentation skills; demonstrated organizational, listening, analytical and problem solving skills and be familiar/comfortable with the use of the latest technology hardware/applications used by school districts and in classrooms.
  • Submit and maintain a current Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Possess valid driver’s license.
