Play Golf for Juniors

by Mike Adams and T.J. Tomasi

The Tiger Woods phenomenon has led to a huge increase in the number of young people on all socioeconomic levels who are crazy for golf. This boom has also created an explosion in books about the game, many of them instructional manuals for kids and beginners. Play Golf for Juniors is an undeniable winner in this genre. Written by the American duo of Mike Adams (the renowned Swing Doctor) and T. J. Tomasi – both instructors at the U.S. Academy of Golf at the PGA – the book takes young linksters from the basic spirit of the game through the equipment, etiquette, and rules, and into the fundamentals of driving, putting, chipping, and course management.

The title is actually a little misleading – there is a lot of material here for adults introducing youngsters to the game. Still, in tone and layout, this large, magazine-format book speaks loudly to kids, especially through the 200-plus photos of young people in all manner of golf action. It’s all presented in an enjoyable format, with a nice blend of theory, drills, and motivational messages. Young readers will appreciate the examples of how pro players – including Tiger – approach different aspects of the game.

For any kid or parent looking for an upbeat, easy-to-learn-from book about golf that stresses fun as much as fundamentals, this is the right choice.
