The 2025 Hamilton Literary Awards were announced on Dec. 11 at the Hamilton Public Library.
The awards are presented in partnership between the Hamilton Arts Council, GritLIT Readers and Writers Festival, and Hamilton Public Library to recognize the best published work by authors from the Greater Hamilton Area and Six Nations of the Grand River.
The award winners are:
Fiction
- Scandal at the Alphorn Factory: New and Selected Short Fiction, 2024-1984 by Gary Barwin (Assembly Press)
Non-Fiction
- Marrow Memory: Essays of Discovery by Margaret Nowaczyk (Wolsak & Wynn)
Children’s Literature
- Blue to the Sky by Sylvia McNicoll (DC Young Readers/Cormorant Books)
Poetry
- West of West Indian by Lindzey Corridon (Mawenzi House Publishers)
The honorary Kerry Schooley Book Award for a book evocative of the City of Hamilton was awarded to As Is by Ben Corridon.
