The Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s magazine, Canadian Children’s Book News, has a new home.
Kidsbooknews.ca will feature all the content the Canadian Children’s Book News has been known for, but will now be available for free to everyone. This includes reviews, recommended book lists, author and illustrator profiles, articles on literacy and learning, and news.
The Canadian Children’s Book Centre announced in February 2025 the magazine would cease publishing in print and would be available as a digital magazine to CCBC members, or could be purchased as individual digital issues.
“We have been working to ensure Canadian books for children and teens are discovered, read, and celebrated for 50 years,” says Stephanie Wells, CCBC executive director in the press release. “The landscape for reviews and articles on Canadian children’s books shrinks every year, so it seemed critical that we remove paywalls to provide all Canadians access to our resources. At kidsbooknews.ca, everyone will be able to discover the incredible range of books published by Canadians each year. All our bookshelves, whether they are in schools, in libraries, in bookstores or at home, should be brimming with Canadian books.”
Published since 1977, the Canadian Children’s Book News annually features over 150 reviews and recommendations of newly published Canadian books for both children and teens.
