IBBY Canada has announced the finalists for the 2025 Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award.
The award, which was established in 1985 following the death of illustrator and author Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver, is presented to a Canadian illustrator in recognition of outstanding artistic talent.
The finalists are:
- Aujourd’hui, promis!, illustrated and written by Josée Bisaillon (Éditions Fonfon)
- Everybelly, illustrated and written by Thao Lam (Groundwood Books)
- Grandes oreilles, illustrated and written by Julie Delporte (Éditions de la Pastèque)
- Little Moments in a Big Universe, illustrated and written by Todd Stewart (Owlkids Books)
- My Street Remembers, illustrated by Cathie Jamieson and written by Karen Krossing (Groundwood Books)
- Qallupilluit: The Takers of Children, illustrated by Megan Kyak-Monteith and written by Neil Christopher and Louise Flaherty (Inhabit Media)
- Ra! Ta! Ma! Cue!, illustrated and written by Howie Shia (Annick Press)
- Rez Kid, illustrated by Isabelle Fassler and written by Andrea Landry (Kids Can Press)
- The Thing About Birds, illustrated and written by Christy Obalek (Heritage House Publishing)
- You Can’t Tame a Tiger, illustrated by Julien Chung and written by Stephanie Ellen Sy (Owlkids Books)
The winner will be announced on March 28, 2026, at the IBBY Canada annual meeting of members.
