Comme des géants, Le lièvre de mars, and Milky Way Picture Books have formally come together as Comme des géants Group.
The new identity coincides with the fifth anniversary of the English-language publishing imprint Milky Way Picture Books, which was recently shortlisted for the 2026 Bologna Prize (BOP) for Best Children’s Publishers of the Year (North America).
Launched in February 2021, Milky Way Picture Books, according to the company’s press release, was “born out of a desire to broaden dialogues between cultures and children’s book creators, and to offer picture books of great visual and literary richness to English markets.”
“There will still be a few titles each year published in both languages,” Nick Frost, newly appointed editor of Milky Way Picture Books, told Q&Q. “But Milky Way will develop more original creations of its own, specifically for its list. We would like to increase Milky Way’s annual publishing output from seven to 10 titles by 2028.”
Frost had freelanced for Milky Way since its inception, mostly as a translator and proofreader. With his new role, the Comme des géants Group team has grown from three to four. His is the first position dedicated to Milky Way. The rest of the staff and their respective roles will remain the same.
“From the very beginning of Comme des géants, selling rights abroad allowed us to quickly gain international recognition. This five-year milestone proves that a small team can have a strong vision and even offer Québecois creators lasting exposure,” said Nadine Robert, founder and publisher of the group. “Affirming our Québecois culture, in French and in English, is an act of openness. It is us offering our books, our art, and our stories to the world, with an unwavering sense of pride.”
