Margaret Atwood’s year just keeps getting better, will receive PEN lifetime achievement award

In what has been a banner year for Margaret Atwood – between numerous accolades, the debut of the well-received and Emmy Award–winning TV adaptation of her novel The Handmaid’s Tale, and the announcement of a miniseries adaptation of another of her titles, Alias Grace –  the Toronto author will be presented with the PEN Center USA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This is the second prize of its kind Atwood will receive this year, after the National Book Critics Circle named her winner of its Sandrof Award for Lifetime Achievement in January.

Atwood will receive the PEN award from Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards at the the center’s 27th annual Literary Awards Festival in Beverly Hills on Oct. 27.
