Quill and Quire

Herménégilde Chiasson’s debut poetry collection – one of the core texts of Acadian literature – is finally appearing in English translation

It was activist involvement that gave birth to Chiasson’s first book of poetry, the 1974 collection Mourir à Scoudouc. Published by Éditions d’Acadie, the book helped establish Acadian writing as a vibrant and viable form and went on to sell an astonishing 4,000 copies.
