
The books shortlisted for the 2022 Cundill History Prize.
The shortlist for the Cundill History Prize has been announced.
The Cundill History Prize, administered by McGill University, is awarded annually to a book that embodies historical scholarship, originality, literary quality, and broad appeal. The finalists for the $75,000 (U.S.) prize will be announced on October 20, and the winner will be announced on December 1.
The shortlisted titles are:
- In the Forest of No Joy by J.P Daughton (W.W. Norton & Company)
- Cuba by Ada Ferrer (Scribner)
- The Perils of Interpreting by Henrietta Harrison (Princeton University Press)
- Aftermath by Harald Jahner (Ebury, PRH)
- All That She Carried by Tiya Miles (Random House)
- The Chinese Question by Mae Ngai (W.W. Norton & Company)
- Not One Inch by M.E. Sarotte (Yale University Press)
- Collapse by Vladislav Zubok (Yale University Press)
The titles on the shortlist were chosen by a jury comprised of chair historian J.R. McNeill, author Misha Glenny, historian Martha S. Jones, author and historian Yasmin Khan, and historian Kenda Mutongi.
