IBBY Canada has announced the finalists for the 2024 Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award.
The award, which was established in 1985 following the death of illustrator and author Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver, is presented to a Canadian illustrator in recognition of outstanding artistic talent.
The finalists are:
- Boozhoo! Hello!, illustrated and written by Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley (Groundwood Books)
- Frostfire, illustrated and written by Elly MacKay (Tundra Books)
- Garbage Gulls, illustrated by Isabella Fassler and written by Dorson Plourde (Kids Can Press)
- Mother Aspen: A Story of How Forests Cooperate and Communicate, illustrated by Crystal Smith and written by Annette LeBox (Groundwood Books)
- The Noisy Puddle: A Vernal Pool Through the Seasons, illustrated by Miki Sato and written by Linda Booth Sweeney (Owlkids Books)
- The Pig & the Dumpling, illustrated by Veselina Tomova and written by Bonnie Johnstone (Running the Goat Books & Broadsides)
- La tasse de Gilles, illustrated by Qin Leng and written by Catherine Trudeau (Éditions de la Pastèque)
- This Land is a Lullaby, illustrated by Delrée Dumont and written by Tonya Simpson (Orca Book Publishers)
- Tove and the Island with No Address, illustrated and written by Lauren Soloy (Tundra Books)
- Viewfinder, illustrations by Salwa Majoka and written by Christine D.U. Chung (Tundra Books)
The winner will be unveiled on April 26, 2025, at the IBBY Canada annual meeting of members.
