Aimée Craft, Sandra Laronde among 2021 Order of Ontario appointees

Authors Aimée Craft and Sandra Laronde are among the 2021 appointees to the Order of Ontario.

Craft and Laronde were two of 24 Ontarians officially invested into the order at a ceremony in Toronto on November 21.

Established in 1986, the Order of Ontario honours residents of the province whose impact and legacy have helped to build a stronger province, country, and world.

Ottawa-based researcher, mentor, and author Aimée Craft was honoured as “one of Canada’s leading minds on Indigenous legal traditions and Canadian Aboriginal law.” Craft is also the author of Treaty Words: For As Long As the Rivers Flow (Annick Press), a middle-grade narrative nonfiction book released last year.

Sandra Laronde, a multidisciplinary artist and member of the Teme-Augama Anishinaabe in Temagami, was honoured for “her artistic leadership.” Laronde’s debut middle-grade novel, She Holds Up the Stars, was published earlier this year by Annick Press.
