Alicia Elliott longlisted for 2024 Women’s Prize for Fiction

Alicia Elliott (Alex Jacobs-Blum)

Haudenosaunee writer Alicia Elliott has been longlisted for the 2024 Women’s Prize for Fiction.

Elliott’s novel And Then She Fell is one of 16 books longlisted for the £30,000 (about $51,700), U.K.-based prize that champions women’s voices.

Elliot’s novel, published in the U.K. by Allen & Unwin and by Doubleday in Canada, is about a Mohawk writer and new mother, Alice, who lives in a wealthy Toronto neighbourhood, and deals with themes of motherhood, mental illness, and intergenerational trauma.

The shortlist for this year’s prize will be announced next month, with the winner to be announced in June.
