Andrea Benoit’s book on M·A·C and AIDS wins $30,000 National Business Book Award

Andrea Benoit has won the $30,000 National Business Book Award for VIVA MˑAˑC: AIDS, Fashion, and the Philanthropic Practices of MˑAˑC Cosmetics (University of Toronto Press). The book looks at the Canadian makeup company’s pioneering blueprint for corporate philanthropy and the company’s personal connection to supporting HIV/AIDS philanthropy. The award was presented in a virtual ceremony hosted by Peter Mansbridge.

The book was selected by a jury chaired by Mansbridge that consisted of McMaster University’s Leonard Waverman, adjudicator Deirdre McMurdy, corporate director David Denison, author and publisher Anna Porter, and Senator Pamela Wallin. The award is presented annually for outstanding Canadian business writing.
