
George M. Abbott has won the 2026 British Columbia Historical Federation book award for Unceded: Understanding British Columbia’s Colonial Past and Why It Matters Now (UBC Press).
The British Columbia Historical Federation announced the winners of the 2026 Historical Writing Awards on May 30 at its annual conference in Vancouver.
The awards recognize exceptional books that deepen public understanding of British Columbia’s history.
Unceded was recently shortlisted for the inaugural Al and Eurithe Purdy BC Award for Excellence.
The Community History prize was awarded to Greg Nesteroff for The King of Sandon: Murder, Myth, & the Man Behind B.C.s Greatest Ghost Town (Kütne Reader).
