Canadian publisher cancels London Book Fair appearance over coronavirus

Simon & Schuster Canada has confirmed it won’t be attending the London Book Fair. The announcement comes on the heels of the publisher’s parent company announcing it will not attend the hub of international publishing deals, which runs March 10–12.

OverDrive, the Rakuten-owned digital publishing distributor, and Nashville’s Ingram Content Group are also reportedly not attending. Earlier this week, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair was bumped from March 30 to May 4 due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus, putting Canadian publishers under pressure to reevaluate their strategies.
