Canadian publishers win multiple Ignatz Awards

Drawn & Quarterly and Pulping Collective garnered multiple Ignatz Awards at the independent comics convention Small Press Expo (SPX) in Maryland in mid-September.

Jillian Tamaki and Mariko Tamaki added to their list of prizes for Roaming (Drawn & Quarterly), which won the award for outstanding graphic novel.

Other Drawn & Quarterly titles to win awards were Offshore Lightning by Saito Nazuna, translated by Alexis Frank, for outstanding collection, and The Great Beyond by Léa Murawiec, translated by Aleshia Jensen, for promising new talent.

Toronto-based Pulping Collective won the award for outstanding anthology for Pulping, edited by Jenn Woodall, Jon Iñaki, Jonathan Rotsztain, Mitch Lohmeier, and Paterson Hodgson, and for outstanding story for “The Happy Art” by Sami Alwani in the Pulping anthology.
