The French-language children’s publisher Comme des géants has announced a new English-language imprint. Milky Way Picture Books will debut with six titles this fall and four in spring by authors and illustrators including Italian writer Davide Cali, the late American picture book writer Charlotte Zolotow with French illustrator Benjamin Chaud, French graphic designer and illustrator Jean Jullien, and the publisher herself, Nadine Robert.

The imprint will be distributed by Abrams in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The first 10 titles are a mix of French titles from Comme des géants in translation, license acquisition titles in translation, and original English titles.

Based in the Montreal suburb of Varennes, Quebec, Comme des géants won the Bologna Prize for best North American children’s publisher in 2019. Robert was editorial director at Montreal’s La courte échelle before launching CDG in 2014.
