CTV will commission more than 20 movies based on novels published by Toronto’s Harlequin publishing house. The original movies will air on CTV Drama, a rebranding of the cable channel Bravo. Romances and mysteries based on the publisher’s properties are expected to air in a Harlequin programming block beginning this fall.
Harlequin, a division of HarperCollins, publishes more than 110 titles a month in over 30 languages. The Harlequin Studios production shingle will operate under the leadership of executive vice-president Brent Lewis, who has been with the company for 13 years, with an emphasis on digital strategy and business development.
