ECW Press launches Best New Speculative Novel Contest

Calling all speculative fiction writers: ECW Press is on the hunt for Canada’s best new speculative fiction novel.

The press is holding a manuscript contest for works in the science fiction, fantasy, and speculative fiction genres. The winner will receive $3,000 and a publishing contract. The contest is part of ECW’s efforts “to curate a list of original, disruptive, and diverse speculative fiction books,” the press said in a release.

The contest will be judged by Terese Mason Pierre, co-editor of speculative literature journal Augur, and Jen R. Albert, an editor at ECW Press who specializes in speculative fiction. Manuscripts must be between 40,000 and 150,000 words long and previously unpublished. The deadline for submissions is October 31.
