Erin Bow receives Newbery Honor

Erin Bow has received a Newbery Honor for Simon Sort of Says.

Bow’s middle-grade story was one of five novels to receive the prestigious John Newbery Medal Honor.

Simon Sort of Says (Scholastic Canada), Bow’s sixth novel for young readers, is narrated by 12-year-old Simon O’Keefe, who was the only kid in his fourth-grade class to survive a school shooting. Now in Grin and Bear It, Nebraska – a town where the internet is banned – Simon writes new stories for himself.

Bow’s previous novels for young readers have won the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year Award, and the Governor General’s Award.
