Fitzhenry & Whiteside president and CEO Sharon Fitzhenry has died. She was 73.

Fitzhenry died on August 26, 2023 according to COO Holly Doll.

Fitzhenry was president, CEO, and majority shareholder at Fitz & Witz, as the distributor and publisher is colloquially known. The family-owned company was established in 1966 and the management of the company was undertaken by the second generation in the mid-1990s. In addition to Fitzhenry and Whiteside, other imprints and affiliates of the company are Red Deer Press, Whitecap Books, and Fifth House Publishers. Distribution clients include Boulder Books and Flanker Press.

In response to the news on the distributer’s Facebook page, authors, publishers, and distributors remembered Fitzhenry for her many contributions to Canadian publishing over her decades-long career.
