The League of Canadian Poets has announced five finalists for the new Pamela Paige Porter Poetry Prize.
The annual $2,000 prize, named for poet Pamela Paige Porter, recognizes a book-length collection “that demonstrates a masterful execution of the themes of the beauty and meaning found in everyday life, empathy and connection to nature, wonder in creation, celebration of the natural world, grief in witnessing the destruction of nature, and hope for healing and conserving the environment we all share,” the league said in a press release announcing the award.
The prize is open to both published and unpublished collections. This year’s finalists were selected by a jury comprised of poets Puneet Dutt, Rion Levy, and Cassidy McFadzean. The winner will be named on May 6.
