The Governor General’s Literary Awards has extended all deadlines for submissions published after February 2020. All books published in English or in French after Feb. 29, 2020, will be eligible for submission up until Oct. 1, 2020, the Canada Council announced on May 8. The extension is due to the impact of COVID-19.
However, submissions won’t be processed until after “isolation measures” are lifted in Ontario. Premier Doug Ford has extended state-of-emergency orders until May 19.
The winners’ announcement will also be postponed, the Canada Council confirmed. Winners of the 2020 awards will be announced in 2021. The winners are traditionally announced at the end of October.
