HarperCollins’s parent company News Corp has completed its $349 million (U.S.) purchase of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books & Media. HMH, which traces its roots back to 1832, boasts a catalogue of 7,000 titles.

In Canada, HMH will continue to be distributed by Raincoast Books for the foreseeable future, Raincoast’s vice-president of marketing Jamie Broadhurst confirms. The deal completed regulatory approval well ahead of its expected deadline of June 30.
