Independent publisher Assembly Press has launched a service they are calling guidance counselling.

The service offers advice for those in need of advice for their writing or publishing careers as part of Assembly’s commitment “to improving transparency in publishing.”

Publisher Leigh Nash is offering both editorial advice and general publishing advice; communications specialist Debby de Groot is available for advice about promotion. Assembly says a portion of each purchase of a counselling session will go towards subsidizing a session for someone who otherwise might not be able to purchase one.

Assembly Press launched in June 2023, and plans to release its first list in spring 2024. Nash and de Groot previously worked together at House of Anansi Press.
