Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, has named the Honourable Luc Martineau as chair of the Copyright Board of Canada. The regulatory body oversees copyright terms and conditions as well as royalties to be paid for the use of collectively managed copyrights.

Martineau, who assumed the five-year term position on Oct. 2, 2020, takes over for Justice Robert A. Blair. As part of his mandate, he will continue the work already underway to modernize Canada’s copyright program.
