Ten writers have been named to the longlist of the 2025 Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour.
The annual award, now in its 78th year, recognizes excellence in Canadian literary humour. Previous winners include Terry Fallis, Will Ferguson, W.O.Mitchell, Stuart McLean, and Mordecai Richler.
The longlisted books are:
- Interesting Facts About Space by Emily Austin (Atria Books)
- Mood Swings by Frankie Barnet (McClelland & Stewart/Penguin Random House Canada)
- Ruff by Rod Carley (Latitude 46 Publishing)
- An Evening with Birdy O’Day by Greg Kearney (Arsenal Pulp Press)
- Window Shopping for God by Deborah Kimmett (Douglas & McIntyre)
- We Came From Away by Patricia Parsons (Moonlight Press)
- Never Been Better by Leanne Toshiko Simpson (HarperCollins)
- I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue (HarperCollins)
- Cold by Drew Hayden Taylor (McClelland & Stewart/PRHC)
Three finalists will be announced on May 20, with the winner to be named at a gala in Orillia, Ontario, on June 21.
