LPG launches $1,000 bursary to honour Luciana Ricciutelli

Luciana Ricciutelli

The Literary Press Group of Canada has announced a new annual $1,000 bursary named after the late Luciana Ricciutelli, editor-in-chief of feminist press Inanna Publications.

The Luciana Ricciutelli Memorial Bursary at Centennial College will be offered annually for at least three years to a woman or non-binary person who is enrolled in Centennial’s graduate certificate in book, magazine, and electronic publishing, either full-time or part-time, and demonstrates financial need.

Ricciutelli was a long-time member of the LPG who served on the organization’s board of directors and was a fierce advocate for women’s rights and empowerment and independent publishing.

“Luciana was known for her generous mentorship of writers and publishing colleagues, as well as her commitment to feminist publishing,” LPG executive director Laura Rock Gaughan said in a statement. “This bursary will assist a new publishing professional. It’s a fitting way to honour her legacy.”

Additional donations to the bursary can be made online through Centennial College. Donors should specify in the “notes” field that their gift is for the Luciana Ricciutelli Memorial Bursary. More details about how to apply for the bursary will be posted to Centennial’s scholarships page.

Ricciutelli died in December. She was 62.
