Marquis moves into book distribution with Georgetown Terminal Warehouses acquisition

Quebec-based printer Marquis Book Printing will be adding distribution to its list of services with the acquisition of GTA-based book distributor Georgetown Terminal Warehouses.

Marquis announced the acquisition on May 4.

Georgetown Terminal Warehouses operates an 80,000-square foot facility in Georgetown, Ontario, about 50 km west of Toronto. Marquis has three printing plants, including a digital inkjet and web offset printing plant in Toronto.

Marquis said the goal of the acquisition is to offer integrated book distribution services to clients as part of the acceleration of its five-year strategic plan.

“Many of our common or respective customers have acknowledged the improved responsiveness, lowered environmental footprint, and efficiency savings possible with integrated book manufacturing and distribution,” Marquis executive vice president Mike Collinge, who will head the new distribution operation, said in a release. “Together we’ll develop new strategies and invest to keep printed books the preferred choice for readers.”
