Wilfrid Laurier University Press has named a new director and publisher.

Mat Buntin will assume the role on Oct. 15, the academic press announced on Sept. 25.

Buntin has worked in academic publishing for 17 years in a variety of roles at Broadview Press, University of Toronto Press, and University of Alberta Press, where he is currently an acquisitions editor. Buntin also contributes to committee work and policy proposals as a member of the Association of Canadian Publishers, the Association of Canadian University Presses, and the Book Publishers Association of Alberta.

Senior editor Siobhan McMenemy, who has been filling in interim director and publisher at WLU Press for the past year, will be returning to her role.
