The Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (ABPBC) has named a new executive director.

Matea Kulić began in the role on April 19. Before joining the ABPBC, Kulić was the editorial director of The Capilano Review, where she guided the organization through a period of growth.

The ABPBC says that Kulić is well suited to help guide publishers forward as the association implements a new strategic plan and undergoes a rebranding exercise.

“I strongly believe in the value B.C. publishers and industry partners bring to our community of writers, readers, and educators,” Kulić said in a release. “I look forward to contributing my skills and energy towards ensuring this value continues to be recognized.”

Former association executive director Heidi Waechtler joined Figure 1 Publishing as director of sales and distribution last month.
