Mona Awad’s novel Bunny to be adapted for TV series

Mona Awad

Rights to Montreal-born novelist Mona Awad’s new book Bunny have been acquired by AMC, with plans to develop the novel as a television series. The book takes place at an exclusive MFA program in New England, where a social outsider becomes enmeshed in an exclusive yet bizarre writing workshop made up of a clique of rich female students who call each other “bunny.”

Megan Mostyn-Brown, a playwright who worked as a producer on Gotham and the Joe Hill adaptation NOS4A2, will write the pilot. Awad’s 2016 novel 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl won the Amazon.ca First Novel award and was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
