National Business Book Award shortlist announced

Four titles have been announced for this year’s National Business Book Award. The $30,000 prize is presented to an outstanding Canadian business-related book published the previous year.

This year’s jury is chaired by former CBC TV chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge. The other jurors are Deirdre McMurdy, David Denison, Anna Porter, Pamela Wallin, and Leonard Waverman. The $30,000 prize will be awarded Oct. 2

The finalists are:

  • Stumbling Giants: Transforming Canada’s Banks for the Information Age, Patricia Meredith and James L. Darroch (Rotman–UTP Publishing)
  • Creating Great Choices: A Leader’s Guide to Integrative Thinking, Jennifer Riel and Roger L. Martin (Harvard Business Review Press)
  • Looking for Bootstraps: Economic Development in the Maritimes, Donald J. Savoie (Nimbus Publishing)
  • The Patch: The People, Pipelines, and Politics of the Oil Sands, Chris Turner (Simon & Schuster Canada)
