New agency 5 Otter Literary launches in Toronto

5 Otter Literary, a new literary agency, has launched in Toronto. The agency, founded by partners Olga Filina, Ali McDonald, and Cassandra Rogers, is open to submissions across all genres, categories, and formats. They previously worked together at The Rights Factory.

Filina is seeking adult and children’s submissions, McDonald is seeking children’s literature with a focus on genre fiction, and Rodgers is seeking adult submissions across genres. Their clients include novelist and poet Emily Pohl-Weary, author and illustrator Rolli, YA author Jo Treggiari, and former supermodel, actor, and television correspondent Monika Schnarre.

The agency, abbreviated as 5OL, also includes head of rights Liza Demaison, who will represent translation and film and television rights.
