Kobo Emerging Writer Prize – Non-fiction winner Kate Harris
Three women have been named the winners of the Kobo Emerging Writer Prize. Each debut writer will receive $10,000 and marketing support from Kobo.
In the Literary Fiction category, judge Craig Davidson selected Nora Dector’s coming-of-age novel How Far We Go and How Fast (Orca Book Publishers). In the Romance category, judge Dale Mayer selected Julie Evelyn Joyce’s self-published contemporary romance Steeped In Love. In the Non-fiction category, judge Michael Harris selected Kate Harris’s Asian travelogue/history hybrid Lands of Lost Borders: Out of Bounds on the Silk Road.
The shortlist for the prize was chosen by selected Canadian authors and Kobo booksellers, factoring in book completion rates and customer feedback.
